Swat outbreak: Two more fall prey to dengue

Most of the patients in critical condition referred to the LRH.

MINGORA: Two more dengue patients died on Tuesday, pushing the unofficial death toll to 46 in Swat.

According to an official at the Saidu Teaching Hospital (STH), most of the critical patients had been referred to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) in Peshawar.

Tuesday’s casualties included Muhammad Malook, a resident of Malookabad who died at LRH, while a woman from the same area succumbed to the disease at home. Her identity could not be ascertained.

According to a District Health Office (DHO) report, a total of 7,242 cases have been recorded in the district. At present, 233 dengue patients are admitted to STH while 207 are being treated in private hospitals and 48 patients at Tehsil Headquarters Matta and Khawazakhela.

The DHO report states STH recorded 68 new cases while the official death toll remains at 25.
