Combating polio: Parents urged to immunise children

During the campaign, more than 695,000 children are being given polio drops.

RAWALPINDI:
A five-day drive to administer polio drops to children under five years of age kicked off in Rawalpindi district on Monday. During the campaign, more than 695,000 children are being given polio drops. Around 1,365 polio teams have been engaged to make door-to-door visits in all tehsils and union councils of the district. Some 76 polio centres have been set up at various locations to facilitate parents. District Programme Coordinator Javaid Iqbal said that special instructions had been given to the teams to ensure that all children were given polio drops, especially in areas where the polio virus has recently surfaced. Iqbal stated that polio teams would reach every nook and corner of the district to achieve the target. He urged parents to cooperate with polio teams to make the campaign a success.
