A notorious figure in the Lyari gang war, Ameen Buledi, was identified by a witness during the identification parade carried out in a robbery case in a district and sessions court on Tuesday.
A judicial magistrate in district South, Ghulam Raza, being a link judge after the suspect and the witness were produced before the court by the police, conducted the parade. The witness identified Buledi amidst other people who stood along the suspect as dummies during the parade.
Javed Mir, the counsel for Buledi, however, raised objections over the manner in which the parade was conducted. Mir raised objection over the clothes of the dummies, as they were all wearing shalwar kameez, while Buledi was dressed in pants and a shirt. The dummies have no resemblance with the suspect, said Mir, adding that the dummies did not even belong to the same ethnic background, allowing an easy pick.
Besides, the witness had seen the suspect at the police station before pointing at him in the court, said Mir. According to him, the footage of the suspect was aired on several television channels.
An assistant of the counsel while talking to The Express Tribune claimed that the witness had also accepted that he had seen the suspect at the police station before coming to the court. Buledi was arrested by the Lahore police along with two of his companions, Zubair and Junaid.
