BAHAWALPUR/FAISALABAD:

A man was shot dead on Tuesday and five others were injured by robbers in separate incidents.



Police said two men, riding a motorcycle, stopped in front of a medical store near Bolay Di Jhuggi Chowk. They held the workers and some customers at gun point and emptied the cash drawer into a bag.


Police said when Muhammad Fahad, the owner of the shop put up resistance, one of the robbers shot him. A customer, later identified as Muhammad Asghar, was also hit.


The robbers fled.


The injured men were taken to Allied Hospital, where Fahad was pronounced dead. Doctors treating Asghar said that he was in a critical condition.


In another incident in Mamu Kanjan area, armed robbers shot at four people for resistance in Chak 489-GB.


The injured, later identified as Akhtar Bagga, Muhammad Umar, Faizan Ali and Muhammad Adeel, where taken to Samundri tehsil headquarters hospital, where Umar was said to be in critical condition.



Street crime


Seven people were deprived of their motorcycles, one of a car, and several others of cash and valuables worth millions of rupees in 11 robberies reported on Tuesday.


Armed men deprived Nisar Ahmad of his motorcycle near Sabzi Mandi Chowk, Muhammad and Shehzad near Madina Town, Sajjad Ali near Khayaban Colony, Zeeshan Ali near Gulberg, Muhammad Ali near Razaabad and Ziaul Haq at Satiana Road.


Muhammad Hasan was deprived of hundreds of thousands of rupees in Chak 204-RB, Bilal Qadeer of Rs30,000 and a mobile phone in Gulberg.


Man killed, son injured


In Rahim Yar Khan, a man was shot dead and his son injured by robbers.


Police said three unidentified men broke into Abdul Majeed’s house on Airport Road. On seeing the men, police said, Majeed and his sons tried to overpower them.


One of them shot at them, killing Majeed on the spot and injuring his son Owais Majeed.


The robbers fled. The injured man was taken to Shaikh Zayed Hospital, where doctors treating him said that he would likely survive. A case has been registered with Airport police.
