MIRAMSHAH/ ISLAMABAD:

In a second drone strike within 24 hours, at least three suspected militants were killed on Monday when a remotely-piloted US drone struck a village in the Dattakhel tehsil of North Waziristan Agency.

The attack occurred in Land Muhammad Khel village, 15 kilometres west of the agency headquarters of Miramshah.

“The US drone fired two missiles at a militant compound, killing three suspected militants and injuring two others,” a security official told The Express Tribune. However, he would not say anything about the nationalities of the dead.

On Sunday, at least six suspected militants were killed in a US drone attack in the Dargamandi area of North Waziristan Agency.

The foreign ministry condemned the latest strike, reiterating that continued predator attacks were casting a negative impact on bilateral ties with the United States.

Continuing US drone strikes despite PM’s address at the UN shows the government has no option other than customary condemnation of strikes it has publicly declared a breach of its sovereignty.
