Trade development: Govt urged to revise export policy
APBF urges govt to take decisions on restructuring and privatisation of Pakistan Steel Mills, TDAP.
HYDERABAD:
All Pakistan Business Forum (APBF) on Monday urged the government to take the business community on board in preparing policies to enhance exports so that the fast-widening trade deficit can be controlled. APBF Chairman, Nabeel Hashmi urged the government that all stakeholders should be taken on board while preparing industry-related policies. He said that exempting industrial estates from load-shedding of gas and electricity could benefit the local markets and help them meet export targets. APBF’s SVP Imtiaz Rastgar urged the government to get input from the private sector on economic policies and encourage public-private partnership to stimulate various government organisations. He said that APBF supports partial privatisation of PIA but also urges the government to take immediate decisions on restructuring or privatisation of Pakistan Steel Mills and TDAP. He said that this elimination of red-tape from the managements of these companies would increase efficiency.
