Encounter: Man killed in shootout with police
The shootout lasted for more than two hours. Ahmad was finally killed but his accomplices fled.
BAHAWALPUR:
A man wanted in 24 cases was killed in a shootout with the police that lasted more than two hours in Taranda Muhammad Panah on Saturday, police said.
Taranda Muhammad Panah Station House Officer Rana Muhammad Safdar said that they received information at 9am on Friday that a Fayyaz Ahmed, wanted for several robberies, was in that area with two of his accomplices. Police surrounded the indicated house and the robbers shot at the police.
Police returned the fire and called for backup. The Liaquatpur ASP arrived with another contingent.
The shootout lasted for more than two hours. Ahmad was finally killed but his accomplices fled.
The SHO said that Ahmad had been a part of a gang suspected of robberies and murders. There were 24 cases registered against him in Taranda Muhammad Panah, Uch Sharif and Channi Goth police stations, he said.
Ahmad was a resident of Panon Jhallan.
