LAKKI MARWAT:

A man was killed and two women were injured after they tried resisting a robbery in Masha Mansoor on Saturday.

Pezo police official Muhammad Noor said the incident occurred around 4am when four robbers broke into Jan Muhammad’s house. The armed intruders tried to hold his family hostage in a room in a bid to steal valuables. Jan, however, resisted and in the ensuring brawl one of the robbers opened fire at the family members.

Jan was killed on the spot and two women identified as Siyal Bibi and Fatima Bibi were injured.

After hearing gunshots, neighbours rushed to Jan’s house and shifted his body along with the injured to City Hospital. There Fatima Bibi was referred to Bannu Headquarters Hospital to manage her critical condition.

According to Noor, the police have initiated investigation. They found a car parked outside the house with a rifle and pistol inside. “After the shooting, the robbers escaped without stealing anything,” said Noor. A case has been registered against unidentified culprits.

In protest, 100 people from Tattar Khel union council (UC) led by former UC nazim Jumerat Khan blocked the Indus Highway at around 4pm for 30 minutes. The protesters placed Jan’s body on the road and shouted slogans against the government, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. They then dispersed peacefully and proceeded to the graveyard for Jan’s burial.
