SC to take decision on adjournment
Three member bench to take decision on further adjournment of review petition on NRO.
ISLAMABAD:
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court will today take a decision on the further adjournment of the review petition on the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
The bench is headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry and advocate-on-record Raja Abdul Ghafoor and Attorney-General Maulvi Anwarul Haq will appear before it. The government had requested the Supreme Court that since the government’s previous advocate Kamal Azfar has now been appointed adviser to the prime minister, he cannot appear in the court and hence a further review of the NRO should be adjourned till the government’s nomination of a new advocate. This petition was filed by advocate Raja Abdul Ghafoor and the Supreme Court agreed to it by issuing notices to the advocate-on-record in which it sought the notification of Kamal Azfar’s appointment as adviser.
