KARACHI: A policeman was killed and one was injured in an explosion that took place in the Korangi Industrial Area of Karachi Saturday evening, Express News reported.

Initial reports suggested that the explosion was caused by a hand grenade attack, though the sound from the was heard from quite afar.

"The culprits fled soon after the incident," said Express News correspondent Nadeem Khan.

The police vehicle which was targeted by the grenade attack was present at its checkpoint in the area, said Khan.

The injured were taken to Jinnah Hospital where one of the policemen reportedly succumbed to his injuries.

The police has frequently come under attack in troubled areas of the city.

A day earlier, the Supreme Court had said that the Sindh government and the police have sprung into ‘real’ action to fix Karachi’s violence but it had maintained that a lot more needed to be done.
