FAISALABAD:

Regional Police Officer Mian Javaid Islam on Friday suspended station house officers of nine police stations on charge of misleading the Police Department.

The officers had allegedly shown arrests of proclaimed offenders and other criminals in a crackdown ordered by the RPO, while there had actually been no arrests.

Police spokesman Aamir Waheed said that the police had been directed to launch a special crackdown against proclaimed offenders, court absconders, drug dealers and illegal weapon holders in the district.

After the crackdown, he said, the nine station officers had submitted reports showing bogus entries regarding arrests.

After an inquiry into the arrests, the RPO issued orders for immediate suspension of these SHOs.

The SHOs suspended from service are: Peoples Colony’s Rao Kashif, D-Type Colony’s Mian Zahid, Civil Lines’ Masood Nazeer, Thikriwala’s Abdul Majeed, Millat Town’s Rao Farooq, Tarkhani’s Muhammad Aamir Khan, Mamu Kanjan’s Mazhar Shah, Garh Maharaja’s Ahmad Yar and Balochni’s Mohsin Muneer Basra.

Contempt of court

Also on Friday, District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Khaleequz Zaman issued show cause notices to six station house officers over non-compliance of court orders.

At an earlier hearing, the court had summoned the Batala Colony, Civil Lines, Peoples Colony, Millat Town, City Tandlianwala and Tandlianwala- Saddar station house officers in six pending cases. However, the SHOs had failed to comply with the orders.

Issuing show cause notices to the station house officers, the judge ordered them to appear before the court on October 10.
