FAISALABAD:

Bus operators on Wednesday staged a protest at Narwala Chowk against traffic wardens for demanding bribes and harassing them. Muhammad Sarwar, a bus driver, said traffic wardens fined them if they stopped at Narwala Chowk to pick up passengers.

“Warden Amjad Ali recently asked me for a Rs5,000 monthly bribe if I wanted to stop at the chowk,” he said.

The protest ended when police arrested two people and pushed away the vehicles parked by the protestors to block the road. Chief Traffic Officer Imran Kishwar said strict action would be taken against wardens if found guilty of harassing bus drivers and taking bribes.”
