Chief Minister Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has resigned from his post as Secretary General Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday, Express News reported.
Jahangir Tareen will be the new PTI Secretary General.
PTI chief Imran Khan is known to be against the idea of officials juggling responsibilities in government offices while simultaneously occupying high party positions.
Spokespersons for PTI revealed that the party's central executive committee, which held an extended meeting a few days ago, decided that dual offices would not be allowed, though a final decision in the matter had been left up to party chief Imran Khan.
Following increased criticism over being unable to attend to his dual responsibilities after the recent Peshawar church blasts, provincial chief minister Pervez Khattak finally resigned from his party post on Wednesday.

At last some sense prevailed in PTI leadership. CM K-P Pervez Khattak should had resigned from party post immediately after taking oath. Its still never too late though. Good step!
@momo: Resigning is not the solution to solve such matters like blasts
ET has gratuitously added the bit about his reason for resignation being the blast. He resigend as this is the recommendation of the CEC.
What amazing reporting as earlier they say that the party has recommended that there should be no dual responsibilities...as is part of PTI policy.
This was the first CEC after the elections.

I doubt it! so enjoy your coffee sir. We Pakistanis havnt learned yet even in cricket that by changing captain after one match loss is not doing any good to us. Keep politics out of it and let people do something.
@momo: please advise who do you recommend for that post? Being angry and frustrated is the easiest thing to do in whole church situation but that is not the solution.

So the death of 82 people, was the determining factor for Mr Khattak to step down. MashAllah. May Allah Guide them.
Good decision. A party that listens and responds to healthy criticism. InshAllah PTI will transform KPK into a modern and progressive province, free of corruption. And we will know about it --- if the media drops its hypocrisy and shows the positive changes brought in by PTI.
He must also resign from the post of CM after chuch blast.
