PESHAWAR:

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday ordered the transfer and posting of 60 judges.

These include sessions judges, additional district judges, civil and senior civil judges and judge-cum-judicial magistrates. They were transferred from various districts including Peshawar, Bannu, DI Khan, Swabi, Mansehra, Dargai and the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy to relevant benches of the PHC.

According to an official notification, the concerned district and sessions judges (zilla qazis) should immediately hand over their cases to vacant courts of appropriate jurisdiction keeping in view the formula of equal pendency in each court.

The move is likely to ease the backlog of cases further. Earlier, the mobile court was launched in a bid to reach out to more people in otherwise inaccessible areas.
