Grudge Man beaten up, thrown into canal

Police says they are looking for the suspects.

A man was beaten up on Monday and thrown into a canal allegedly by his former brothers-in-law.



He was rescued by some passers-by and taken to a hospital, where he was later said to be out of danger. Harnoli police have registered a case against the suspects on the complaint of the victim. Muhammad Zaman, a resident of Chak DB/12, told police that he was stopped by Maqbool Hussain and Ejaz Hussain near Chak 20  on his way to visit his sister in Angrawali.

He said he had divorced their sister a few months ago and that they had been threatening him with dire consequences since then. Zaman said Maqbool and Ejaz had attacked him with clubs. He said when he came to, he found himself at the hospital.

Police quoted witnesses as saying that after Zaman fainted, the two men wrapped him in a plastic sheet and threw him into the water. They said they jumped into the canal to save him, while Maqbool and Ejaz fled. Police said they were looking for the suspects.
