Quranic knowledge: Hifz-o-Qirat competition held

Mahek Adil of DA Iqra Model School got the first position, while M Taha Yaseen of Army Public School stood second.

An inter schools competition on Hifz-o-Qirat [memorisation and recitation] of the Holy Quran was held at the Defence Authority College for Women Phase VIII on Monday. 


The vice-chancellor of DHA Suffa University, Rear Admiral (retd) Prof. Dr Sarfaraz Hussain, was the chief guest at the Inter Schools Hifz-o-Qirat Competition 2013. Addressing the ceremony, Dr Hussain emphasised on the importance of learning and recitation of the Holy Quran and understanding its meanings.


He said that the Quran was a source of guidance for the humankind, hence its recitation brings a spiritual and intellectual transformation in a person. The best way to follow Quran was to practice its teachings in one’s daily life, he said.

Mahek Adil of DA Iqra Model School got the first position, while M Taha Yaseen of Army Public School, Abdul Rehman of DA Model High School stood second and third respectively.

The overall winning trophy of the competition was won by the students of Army Public School.

At the end, the chief guest distributed prizes among the position holders of the competition.
