Year’s stats: Police recover over 200 stolen cell phones

The Islamabad Police have arrested 253 people allegedly involved in street crimes during the present year and recovered 202 stolen mobile phones and looted cash from their possession, a police spokesman said on Sunday.
During 2013, the police also arrested 107 suspected gamblers by conducting raids in various parts of the city and recovered stake money and other items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.
The police said that another 188 people, including 84 women, were arrested for their alleged involvement in immoral activities.
A police spokesman said Senior Superintendent Police (Operations) Islamabad Muhammad Rizwan has directed all Sub-Divisional Police Officers and Station House Officers to ensure effective patrolling in their jurisdictions.
