LAHORE:

The Sharif brothers could be hanged if the Supreme Court’s ruling in the Asghar Khan case is implemented, former Punjab governor Sardar Latif Khosa said as his party celebrated Bilawal Bhutto’s birthday on Saturday.

Addressing PPP supporters at his residence, Khosa said the Asghar Khan case verdict was like the Sword of Damocles hanging over the Sharif brothers. He said Bilawal Bhutto would be elevated to the post of party chairman (he is currently co-chairman) and would seek an apology for the PPP’s failures in government. He said that Benazir Bhutto's son was the country’s true youth representative, not “65-year-old” [sic] Imran Khan. Bilawal Bhutto was scheduled to address the gathering via video link, but it was postponed. PPP sources said that Asif Zardari had stopped the speech, but did not say why.
