Powerful films shown in evening session

The evening shows on the fourth day of the Lahore International Children’s Film Festival (LICFF) engaged the audience with strong screenplays, powerful dialogue delivery and the animated work on Wednesday.
Pistachio Milk, Rosie, The Theft, Zing, Wickie and The Treasure of the Gods were all screened at the event.
The evening shows started with the screening of Wickie and The Treasure of the Gods - a 95-minute feature film directed by Christian Ditter. It has earlier been screened at 2012 Bavarian Film Awards in Germany, Buster International Children’s Film Festival in 2012, and New Faces Awards in Germany.
The movie is about little Wickie, whose father Halvar is worried that his son might never become a Viking.
Wickie unexpectedly gets his chance when Sven the Terrible kidnaps Halvar.
He leads the mighty Vikings Tjure, Snorre, Urobe, Gorm, Ulme and Faxe and Svenja, through several adventures and reaches Sven’s Castle where Halvar was imprisoned.
Zing, a 26-minute film directed by Kyra Buschor and Cynthia Collins was screened next.
The movie is about a young girl’s efforts to bring her cat back to life.
The Theft, a six-minute silent film directed by Mohammad Farahani, moved the audience to tears through the performance of Reyhane Salamat, who played an old woman accused of theft.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, actress Sophia Mirza said “All the movies screened tonight had excellent stories. I’m impressed by Reyhane Salamat’s performance in The Theft.”
Khadija Umar, a theatre, film and television student at BNU, said “It is a great learning experience for us. These are innovative movies, portraying various cultures across the globe.”
