Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Haider Abbas Rizvi on Wednesday said the MQM was the biggest stakeholder in Karachi, which had shown it significant following in eleven consecutive elections.
Speaking to Shahzeb Khanzada in the Express News talk show ‘To The Point’, he said the MQM was first to demand targeted operation. “We support the operation. However traditional tactics should be avoided.”
He said the MQM had demanded that the operation be conducted on the basis of intelligence under the supervision of Pakistan Army.
“However during the operation our innocent workers are being arrested and when police cannot find any proofs, they frame fake cases of narcotics against them.”
He said the release of MQM’s ex-MPA Nadeem Hashmi was a good omen. “Hashmi was accused of crimes even before he was arrested. This is something against the established rule of justice.”
Rizvi said Dr Imran Farooq was the greatest ‘Altafist’ – a term, which according to him, the MQM workers feel proud to be labelled with.

@Touseef: @True Karachiwala: Forget Karachi think about what Scotland Yard is going to do with Altaf bhai.
Ok I forget for the next 3 months. First it was September when it was supposed to be "end of days for MQM". Just to keep you happy in your little world, I would try to follow your advice.

Like I said, biggest is right, stakeholder is wrong.

@Ahmed: Stop giving yourself so much importance
I read again my comment but could not find "I' or "me"there, I think you subconsciously think about me this way.
The equation is the opposite of what haider claims. Being a totally regional party, Mqm's survival is 100% linked to the power it holds in Karachi. Karachi couldnt care less about his party.
@True Karachiwala who says "its amazing all Anti MQM are on same page."
Stop giving yourself so much importance. We are not Anti anything, we are just Pro Peace, Pro Karachi and Pro Pakistan.
I voted for PTI, but what he's saying is absolutely right (no matter how much PTI crybabies try to deny it). The vast majority of middle-class public in Karachi is pro-MQM because - despite the many, many things wrong with MQM - ethnic parties are a reality in this country and MQM represents their interests. And compared to most other major parties, they actually have a proven track record in terms of development when they were given an open hand.
@Ahmed:
Having won elections, MQM is not permitted to enjoy powers and responsibilities which are meant to be given to MQM. This is what establishment and successive governments have bee doing. A hater like you holds same views, its amazing all Anti MQM are on same page.
GET UP KARACHI and support those who have demonstrated unwavering commitment to Karachi for over three decades
"...MQM was the biggest stakeholder in Karachi...
Biggest is right, stakeholder is wrong. Peace.
