20 cases reported in Faisalabad last week

At least 20 dengue foreverpatients were admitted at Allied Hospital and district headquarters hospital in Faisalabad in the last week.
Of these, two-year-old Asima of Chak Jhumra died during treatment on September 14.
Of the 19 patients, 11 are under treatment at the district headquarters hospital.
Doctors say they fear that the number would increase over the next few weeks.
Allied Hospital Medical Superintendent Rashid Maqbool said that dengue patients were being provided intensive care.
He said they were being treated in a separate ward, especially designated for dengue patients.
To a question he said the hospital had sufficient stock of medicines and trained doctors to deal with any emergency regarding dengue fever.
Wednesday’s inspections
Seeing the influx of patients and people seeking to be tested for dengue fever at various hospitals, the district government has launched an anti-dengue campaign throughout the district.
Environment District Officer Mian Muhammad Nawaz said that inspection teams had been raiding potential dengue larvae breeding sites and have sealed various tyre shops, junkyards and nurseries. He said 91 FIRs had been registered against owners of some of the places where dengue larvae were detected. He said notices had been issued to 2,595 junkyards with below standard cleanliness.
He said during Wednesday’s raids, 1,572 junkyards; 1,571 tyre shops; 154 nurseries and 97 buildings were inspected. Raiding teams found dengue larvae at 12 sites in the city, he said. He said 56 shops and junkyards were sealed for poor sanitary conditions.
