Developing Balochistan: Fibre optic project near completion
8,800 villages of south Punjab are provided modern facilities of communication like broadband.
ISLAMABAD:
The Senate’s standing committee on finance was informed that the fiber optic project in Balochistan was in the final stages of completion. Senator Muhammad Yousuf Badani chairing the committee was apprised about the details of funds released for the less developed areas under the 7th National Finance Commission Award (NFC). 8,800 villages of south Punjab were provided modern facilities of communication like broadband and 206 schools were provided internet labs facility. The committee was also informed that the previous government had assigned a special package of Rs23 billion for Balochistan. The members of the committee suggested to revise funds for the development and progress of the province and recommended to take action against those, who were allegedly involved in corruption in the ongoing development projects in Balochistan. Senator Ahmed Hassan, Rozi Khan Kakar, Khalida Perveen, Muhammad Ali Rind and other senior government officials attended the meeting.
