‘Prove your innocence’: Two made to walk on glowing embers

Two men charged with adultery by a panchayat were ordered to walk over burning coal to “prove their innocence” in Nidal Sim near Fort Munro on Tuesday. Police said the two men had been declared kala for allegedly having illegal relationships with women from the same locality. More than 100 spectators watched as the two men walked over burning coal. Police said one of the two men was from the Leghari family and had been accused of having an affair with a woman from the Gorchai family. The other man, who had recently returned after completing a 25-year jail term for murder, was accused by the brother of the deceased of having an affair with a woman of their family, they added.
