KPT defeat PIA 3-2 in thrilling PPFL match

Manager rues non-renewal of players’ contracts.

KARACHI:
KPT registered their second win in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) as they defeated PIA 3-2 in a high-scoring match at the Korangi Baloch Stadium in Karachi.

Both teams played a goalless first-half; however, KPT’s Muhammad Waseem scored the opening goal in the 63rd minute while Naveed Ahmed doubled the lead five minutes later. PIA equalised the score through Shakir Lashari and Azeem Ali Shah, but Waseem sealed the victory for KPT in the 90th minute.

With the win, KPT now have seven points from five matches, while PIA have six.


“My team is playing well, but the contracts for 13 of my players have not been renewed,” KPT manager Shah Naeem told The Express Tribune. “Their absence has weakened my side.”

In today’s fixtures, KESC will take on NBP at the Mohammadia Football Ground. Meanwhile, ZTBL will face Wapda at the Railway Stadium in Lahore.
