Back-to-back shocks: 12-year-old girl molested in Faisalabad
Police say unidentified men seized a 12-year-old girl from her house in Kanjwani village.
FAISALABAD:
As the horrors of child rape reverberated through the country on Saturday, a minor girl was sexually molested by a gang of pedophiles in the industrial district of Faisalabad.
According to the police, unidentified men seized a 12-year-old girl from her house in Kanjwani village, took her to nearby sugarcane fields and gang-raped her. However, when the girl shouted for help, her rapists fled the scene, the police added. She was driven to a local hospital where medics referred her to the Allied Hospital in Faisalabad city due to her precarious condition.
“The victim is in the ICU, but her condition is stable,” Dr Rashid Maqbool, the Medical Superintendent Allied Hospital, told The Express Tribune.
City Police Officer (CPO) Abur Razzaq Cheema formed a police team to launch a manhunt for the alleged rapists. “We have detained some suspects,” said the SHO of Garh police station, where the incident took place.
Provincial Minister for Health, Minority Affairs and Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu visited the Allied Hospital and enquired about the health of the victim. “It’s shocking that the incident occurred a day after the ghastly gang rape in Lahore,” Sindhu told journalists.
He added that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed him to visit Faisalabad and ensure the rape victim received proper medical treatment.
