Art and politics: ‘Politicians have learnt from mistakes’
Government has allocated a large sum in budget for art education.

Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanvir Hussain said on Saturday the country’s democratic process in Pakistan would continue without a hitch. Talking to newsmen after the inauguration of second Universities Faculty Art Exhibition at Expressions Art Gallery, he said politicians had learnt from past mistakes. He said the government had allocated a large sum in the budget for art education and students from several universities had been sent abroad on scholarships. He said Pakistani artists’ participation in international exhibitions was commendable. About 80 paintings by 60 artists from Punjab University, Lahore College for Women University, Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design, University of Sargodha, Islamic University Bahawalpur, Fatima Jinnah University, Multan College of Art and Textile University are on display.
