Traffic in Quetta

Though Karachi and Lahore are far bigger, Quetta also has major traffic issues of its own.

QUETTA:
The traffic of a city is considered to be one of the parameters to gauge the extent to which a society is civilised. It reflects the attitude of the citizens, the honour and respect they have for other’s life and for the law of the land. Some social scientists even deduct many characteristics like tolerance, care, social norms and values through a community’s traffic sense.

Though Karachi and Lahore are far bigger, Quetta also has major traffic issues of its own. The city’s rate of population growth is the highest in the province. People come to the city to explore employment opportunities and the rapid increase in its population has created many problems related to the provision of basic amenities such as water, sewerage and traffic.

Quetta is almost devoid of any traffic system. As a result, people are free to move without taking into account any traffic norm. Furthermore, the condition of the roads in the city makes driving and traffic horrible.
