ISLAMABAD:

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Labour Union will hold a series of protests in connection with recent decisions taken by its management.

The announcement, made by CDA Labour Union General Secretary Chaudhary Yasin, on Thursday, said the protests will be held on September 17 and 24 at the Environment Directorate in F-9 Park and the Machinery Pool Organisation (MPO) Directorate in H-8 respectively.

“CDA’s new management will hire a private firm, Pakistan Avenue Development Limited, to run the affairs of the civic body.

The step has put the future of over 15,000 workers at stake,” he said in a press conference.

“The new management of CDA has stopped elevating employees’ grades.” They have also decided not to extend the contracts of daily wagers which will result in their unemployment, he stated. The workers have played an important role in developing the image Islamabad enjoys today, he added.

He also revealed that all the future purchases of land, tenders and other deals would be carried out through the limited company.
