PESHAWAR:
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government will wage jihad against illiteracy in the province, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan said on Tuesday.

Imran was speaking at the launch of a school enrolment program in Peshawar.

“The problems faced by Pakistan are not simple problems, but they are not impossible,” he said.

Calling literacy a big challenge, Imran said that the schools in K-P are in very bad condition. “I knew the education situation was not good but didn’t know the magnitude of the problem,” he added.

Vowing to improve the education sector, the PTI chairman said no one can now stop an underprivileged child from excelling in education.

He further said that the K-P government will favour those interested in setting up welfare-based universities in the province. “We will try to provide them with free or subsidised land and all other facilities,” he promised.
