Militant killed, two soldiers injured

A suspected militant was killed and two security officials injured in a fire fight and bomb blast in North Waziristan Agency on Sunday.


More than six militants attacked Kalingar security forces check post in Miramshah, headquarters of the agency. One militant was killed while his accomplices escaped, a security forces official said.


In a separate incident security forces spotted a bomb planted on Miramshah-Ghulam Khan Road and called the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) to defuse it. During defusing process, the bomb detonated and severely injured two security personnel who were taken to Miramshah Fort for first aid and later shifted to Bannu Combined Military Hospital.

After the explosion, security forces backed by gunship helicopters launched a search operation on the outskirts of Miramshah; however, no one was arrested.

During their patrol on Datta Khel-Miramshah Road, security force discovered another Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near Amin check post which was successfully defused.
