Farewell reception: Zardari renews support for Kashmir cause
President Zardari is due to leave office on September 8.
ISLAMABAD:
President Asif Ali Zardari reiterated his unswerving moral, political and diplomatic support for the country and for the Kashmiris in their struggle for liberation.
Addressing a farewell reception hosted in his honour by the leadership of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the outgoing president said that the Kashmiris have rendered great sacrifices for their just and legitimate cause and added that their sacrifices will not go in vain.
President Zardari, who is due to leave office on September 8, said that the people of Kashmir should be credited for using political means to resolve the issue instead of taking up an aggressive approach.
While reassuring Pakistan’s continued support to Kashmiris he said that the message that patience bears fruit needs to be conveyed to the coming generations. Citing his own example, the president said that he successfully completed his tenure because he exercised patience and never reacted to political attacks from his adversaries.
