Uncertainty over mandate rattles Rangers
Strategy has been chalked out for conducting a surgical operation against terrorists and criminals in Karachi.
KARACHI:
A pall of confusion descended on paramilitary Rangers officials a day after the federal authorities gave the green light for targeted action in Karachi, even as 28 suspected criminals were rounded up in the city in a precursor to the operation.
“We are receiving information from the media about having been given the ‘full mandate’ to lead investigations and the operation against criminals in Karachi, but our headquarters has yet to receive a notification in this regard,” a spokesperson for the Rangers said on Thursday.
In the meantime, the Rangers official said the paramilitary authorities had chalked out a strategy for conducting a surgical operation against terrorists and criminals in Karachi.
The paramilitary force, in conjunction with police officials, conducted operations in various areas of the metropolis and arrested 28 suspects.
