‘Corporal Punishment’: Teacher breaks student’s arm
The girl’s mother accused Bhatti of beating up her daughter.

An eighth class student has her arm broken allegedly by her class teacher on Wednesday. The teacher said that the girl’s arm was broken following a fight with the class monitor. Police quoted the teacher, Zahra Bhatti, as saying that the girl, a student of Government Girls High School Gullwala, was beaten up for disrupting the class. When the class monitor stopped her, she said, the girl misbehaved and was beaten up by a stick. Bhatti said she was not in the class at the time the two girls fought. She said she informed her parents and took her to a hospital. The girl’s mother accused Bhatti of beating up her daughter. Police said they had not received a formal complaint.
