Asif, Majid continue to struggle
Pakistan cueists yet to win at 6-Red World Championship.

Pakistan’s IBSF World Champion Mohammad Asif and Asian U21 runner-up Mohammad Majid Ali continued to struggle at the 6-Red World Championship underway in Bangkok, Thailand.
Asif, who proved his class in the format at the Asian level, lost all his three Group H matches making it an uphill task for himself to advance into the knock-out stage.
In his last contest yesterday, Asif surrendered to England maestro Barry Hawkins, who won the match 5-2.
Hawkins clinched the first three frames without much resistance from the Pakistan ace.
However, Asif attempted to make a comeback, winning the next two frames by 66-0, 42-6 to make it 2-3. But, the veteran Englishman avoided further setbacks and registered scores of 37-13 and 44-4 in the next two frames to secure victory.
Earlier, the top Pakistan cueist lost to Ricy Walden of England 5-2 and James Wattana of Thailand 5-4 in a thriller in his first two group matches.
Majid falls against Doherty
Meanwhile, Majid is also yet to taste victory in the championship as the promising cueist fell to Irish veteran Ken Doherty in the second game.
Majid had a flying start as he stunned the 43-year old by claiming the first frame by 52-16. However, the Irish cueist immediately brought the youngster down to earth by winning the next five frames — 48-0, 42-18, 46-8, 34-26, 30-15 on the trot to win the match 5-1.
Majid who lost to Alex Borg of Malta in his opening match, was scheduled to meet Scotland’s Stephen Maguire later in the evening.
