WWF Pakistan: Male leopard captured in Ayubia Park

It was the first time a common leopard got GPS-collared in Pakistan.

LAHORE:
A team of World Wide Fund for Nature - Pakistan (WWF-Pakistan) captured a male Common Leopard (Panthera pardus) close to Ayubia National Park. The spotted feline was equipped with a satellite GPS collar and released in the wild. It was the first time a common leopard got GPS-collared in Pakistan. The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Wildlife Department collaborated in the effort made on September 1, 2013. The leopard was weighed, and after having its morphometric (size and shape) details recorded, a satellite collar was fixed to its neck. After having the DNA samples collected, the spotted predator was released back into its original habitat.
