Two people, including a criminal who escaped from DI Khan Central Jail, were killed in a shoot-out between two rival groups in Lakki Marwat on Sunday.


Tajori police official Mir Ahmad Marwat said the incident occurred around midnight in Adamzai area of the district. A man identified as Faridullah had invited a large number of people to his hujra for a wedding function.

Among the guests was Azizullah, a criminal who escaped in the July 29 jailbreak. He was wanted in murder and attempted murder cases.

During the function, members of a rival group spotted Azizullah and opened fire at him, killing him on the spot. Two guests, a man identified as Sajjad Khan and 12-year-old Haris Khan, were injured in the shoot-out.


While the accused managed to escape after the incident, the injured were taken to Sarai Naurang Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where Sajjad succumbed to his injuries. Haris was referred to Bannu Headquarters Hospital due to his critical condition.

Bannu jailbreak criminal arrested

Meanwhile, a criminal who escaped from the Bannu jail in a militant attack on April 15, 2012 was arrested by police in Kaki along with other criminals.

Kaki police station SHO Asmatullah Khan said during the attack on Bannu Jail, Raqeeb Nawaz, who was imprisoned for life, escaped and later made a gang of robbers. The men have been accused of robbing people along the Indus Highway among other routes.

The SHO said on the directives of DIG Bannu Azad Khan, he searched Nawaz’s hideouts and arrested him. An AK-47 along with a pistol and several rounds of bullets were seized from his possession.
