ISLAMABAD:
An audit of the accounts of the previous PPP-led federal government revealed unauthorised expenditures of up to Rs190 million between 2010 and 2012, Express News reported on Sunday.

The auditor general’s report revealed that several parliamentarians as well as NGOs gained from this unauthorised spending.

The report has already been presented in parliament and will be brought to the Public Accounts Committee once a chair has been elected to head the committee.


Former Information minister Firdous Ashiq Awan was among the beneficiaries, and was reportedly given coaches worth Rs27.5 million to distribute in her constituency.

Former PPP stalwart, and now MQM leader Nabil Gabol also received 200 CNG rickshaws worth over Rs33.1 million.

The Benazir Welfare Organization was also among the beneficiaries and received a bus valued at more than Rs4.8 million.

NGOs in Karachi also got buses worth more than Rs90 million including both double and single cabin buses.
