Six people die in separate firing incidents in Karachi

Doctor Ghulam Sarwar among those dead. Injured have been shifted to Jinnah Hospital.

KARACHI: Six people including a doctor were gunned down in different parts of the city within an hour on Saturday.

In the first incident, armed men on a motorbike fired at a homeopathic clinic in Khurramabad, Landhi, which killed Dr Syed Tahir Hussain on the spot.

In another incident, at least six unknown gunmen on motorbikes fired indiscriminately outside a clinic located in Sector 17-D, Shah Latif Town, in the remits of Shah Latif Police station.

The firing injured five patients, who were rushed to Jinnah Hospital, where doctors pronounced the death of four.

Victims included Saleem Dahiri, Ghullam Murtaza and Khadim Lashari and Shehzad while Abdul Hakeem and an unknown were remained admitted with critical wounds.

According to area police, the clinic was own by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) area leader Dr Sarwar Dahiri. However, the cause behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, they added.

In another incident of firing gunmen shot a young man at Mewa Shah Graveyard multiple times.

Police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to a morgue for identification after autopsy. Police suspect Lyari gangsters to have been behind the attack.
