But their political opponents, the Awami National Party backed calls for military intervention and deweaponisation.
Talking to newsmen in Karachi on Saturday‚ PML-F leader Saddaruddin Shah Rashdi said this would be harmful for democracy in the province.
He said PML-F would rather go for a targeted operation against criminals in Karachi, instead of bringing the army into the city.
ANP say yes to military intervention
Awami National Party (ANP) leader Asfandyar Wali Khan announced that his party supported military intervention in Karachi, while speaking at a press conference in his home Wali Bagh, Charsadda.
Khan said he did not support an army operation in Karachi, but he did favour army intervention because de-weaponising the city without help from the soldiers would be difficult.
He said that neither did all ethnic Pukhtoons of Karachi belong to ANP nor did all Muhajir favour the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), and his party did not support anyone involved in militant activity in the metropolis.

I like his quote "neither did all ethnic Pukhtoons of Karachi belong to ANP nor did all Muhajir favour MQM..." He is so right.
@Mohammad Ali Siddiqui....already investigated ..Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly directed the Ministry of Defence to take action against three retired NLC generals...http://beta.dawn.com/news/681536/missing-containers..the present D.G.Rangers should be sacked for giving wrong statement in S.C.
Majority must be I repeat MUST be given a chance. If it seeks army deployment then the administration should facilitate them. Otherwise Bangladesh mistake is going to happen. The incompetent and corrupt police, administration, some LEA officers and personnel all are involved in heinous crimes such as drug trafficking, arms dealing, land grabbing, Casinos and den etc. and politicians like Zulfiqar Mirza distributing arms and ammunition to his friends. If you deny the power to two major political parties who enjoy more than 90% mandate to run the administration of Karachi, I am sure worst will follow. Keep it up and try to create another Bangladesh.
Every single Pakistani is in favour of de-weaponisation of Karachi, but the Administration should chalk out a very well plan as how to de-weaponise Karachi and arrest the culprits.
There are reports that when some one wants to kill some one, he comes from Balochistan, kill the people and go back to Balochistan.
There are also reports about the missing containers full of weapons from Karachi Port which belong to US and was suppose to go to Afghanistan, but these containers were stolen from Karachi Port, and no body knows till date where these missing containers are?
The SC has ordered today to the Provincial Government Officials to submit a comprehensive report about the missing containers.
Karachi is at a brink of an explosion and one small stick of a match box can burn the whole of Karachi in few hours.
