A hospitals management board should be formed to oversee the performance of medical facilities and monitor government hospitals, said health and local government minister Owais Muzaffar on Friday.
At a meeting with district administration officials Muzaffar said the board should comprise of divisional commissioner, deputy commissioner, MPAs and senior doctors. The health minister also visited government hospitals in Hyderabad, Kotri and Jamshoro. He also asked that a trauma centre be set up at the taluka hospital in Qasimabad.
The local government ministry is also reviewing a proposal to form a Sindh Waste Management Board in order to address the waste disposal problem on a long-term basis, he said.
The minister said that the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation was given Rs66.3 million as the annual budget for the following year. Muzaffar also inquired about the ongoing development projects in the district and asked the Hyderabad Development Package to prepare a master plan for a ‘metropolitan’ Hyderabad. He was further briefed about the law and order situation by DIG Naeem Akram Baroka.
