An all-Pakistan essay competition on “Democracy that is accountable is democracy that delivers” was held at a local hotel on Friday. The aim of the competition was to channelise voices of students from colleges and universities through a healthy competition seeking opinion of the youth on democracy, said a press release.

The event was organised by the Centre for Communication Programmes, Pakistan.

The students were given the opportunity to write in both English and Urdu. A total of 15 winners were finalised in five different categories in terms of educational qualification and gender. Two special consolation prizes were given in two educational categories, for recognising the efforts of students from Balochistan and Malakand.

A CCP representative said that to ensure merit, all the essays were evaluated in three independent rounds through plagiarism software, in-house evaluation by the CCP and external evaluation.
