Ruet committee meets on Feb 18

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are likely to observe the start of Ramazan simultaneously this year

ISLAMABAD:

A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will be held in Peshawar on Feb 18 to sight the Ramazan moon for 1447AH.

The central session, chaired by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, will determine whether the holy month begins on Feb 19 or 20.

The religious affairs ministry issued a notification confirming that zonal moon sighting committee meetings will also be held in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and Quetta.

Sources in the Ministry of Science and Technology suggested that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are likely to observe the start of Ramazan simultaneously this year.
