Prime Minister lifts ban on recruitment in law enforcement agencies, urges officials to start recruiting in 10 days.

Citing his "serious concerns regarding the capacity of civilian law enforcement agencies to detect and fight militancy," Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has removed a ban on recruitment to raise a Counter Terrorism Force.
Chairing a high level meeting to review progress on the formation of the Punjab Counter Terrorism Department, on Friday, Nawaz directed the Punjab government to present a comprehensive operational plan to curb terrorism in the province.
“I have serious concerns regarding the capacity of civilian law enforcement agencies to detect and fight militancy”, premier said as he lifted a ban on all recruitment in law enforcement agencies, while ordering that recruitment be started within ten days.
While urging enhanced coordination among all state agencies, Nawaz said that the federal government will assist the provincial government’s Counter Terrorism Force (CTF) in all possible ways, including the provision of call data information.
Nawaz stressed that the training imparted and resources arranged for the personnel of the CTF must match those of the army.
The meeting was attended by Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Planning & Development Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Water & Power Kh. M Asif, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, among other officials.
