Abduction case: Navy denies hand of its man in kidnapping

A suspected representative of the Pakistan Naval intelligence was booked over his alleged involvement in a Karachi kidnapping on Thursday. A case was registered against accused Dilpazeer Akhtar at the Boat Basin police station.
A prominent fisheries trader, Javed was abducted by a group of five unidentified people near the Creek Club in DHA on August 24. The trader’s family received a ransom call a day after the kidnapping.
Citizens Police Liaison Committee officials and police accompanied the family at the time of exchange of ransom with the kidnapped, and managed to arrest one of the kidnappers, while the rest escaped.
“At the police station, we found a card from the suspect’s possession which suggested that he is an official of the naval intelligence,” according to a police official. “The abducted was later recovered from naval headquarters adjacent to the Sindh CM House,” the officer added.
A Pakistan Navy press release denied any involvement of naval intelligence personnel in abduction or extortion activities.
