In the tribal area of Dera Ghazi Khan, two women have accused their father of raping them for the last four years.

Eighteen-year-old N* and 22-year-old S, claim that their father started sexually abusing them after their mother died four-and-a-half years ago.

The accused, A, is a resident of village Mauza Jaidi of union council Sakhi Sarwar, district Dera Ghazi Khan. He has four sons and eight daughters. S and N are the eldest daughters.

His wife and their ninth child died during the delivery.

On Sunday, after their father rejected a marriage proposal for S, the women approached the Border Military Police Commandant Muhammad Riaz and told him the entire tragedy. He filed an FIR No. 22/2013 in the Sakhi Sarwar Border Military Police Station under Section 376-A. The Border Military Police has arrested the accused father. He told The Express Tribune that the allegations were baseless.

N and S informed the officer of horrifying details of the four-year-long abuse.

They had approached the Border Military Police because they did not trust the district police, the women said, adding that they feared for their four younger sisters who had not been raped so far. All marriage proposals had been rejected by their father on the pretext of their education, they told the officer. “Nobody in our home is studying simply because our father cannot afford it.”

The Border Military Police has sent the girls to a maternity home for a medical examination. *The names have not been revealed to protect their identities
