61 top businessmen pick up awards
Chairman and CEO of Al-Karam Towel Industries Limited wins the top President of Pakistan Export Award.

Some 61 top businessmen and industrialists have won awards in the 34th Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Export Awards for the year 2009-10 for their exceptional contribution to the economy.
Mehtabuddin Chawla, Chairman and CEO of Al-Karam Towel Industries Limited, won the top President of Pakistan Export Award for his contribution of Rs3.1 billion worth of exports to the textile made-up industry.
The Best Export Brand award and the Best Export Performance award went to Mehran Spice and Food Industries for making Rs1.8 billion worth of exports last year. The Best Export Performance award went to 26 other firms including Getz Pharma and Shan Foods.
Six men won the Businessman of the Year gold medal with Muhammad Nadeem Khan, CEO of Raaziq International, the top winner with the highest contribution of Rs7.7 billion worth of exports.
The Special Merit Export Award was presented to 15 companies, including Matco Rice Processing, DSI Group of Companies, Pak Denim, Silver Star Enterprises and Rafhan Maize Products Company.
Merit Export awards went to eight organisations of which Hamdard Laboratories (WAQF) Pakistan, manufacturers of Rooh Afza, was the first recipient with exports worth Rs318 million. The Best Regional Export Award went to Fazal Karim and Sons, Fauji Cement Company Limited and Naveed Enterprises.
Young Entrepreneurs awards went to Omar Najib Balagamwala, director of Global Commodities and Khalil-ur-Rehman, managing partner at KAS Exporters and Importers.
Muhammad Nadeem Khan, CEO of Raaziq International, Jawed Ali Ghori, MD of Matco Rice Processing and Gul Muhammad Lot, chairman of Mehran Spice and Food Industries each won two awards and were therefore top gainers of the evening.
