Extrajudicial killing?: ATC accepts charge-sheet against Rangers’ official

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) indicted a Rangers official on Tuesday, for allegedly being involved in the extrajudicial killing of a man.
The Rangers official, Shahzad, was charged with killing Ghulam Haider for allegedly not stopping his car when ordered to do so, in the limits of the Shah Faisal Colony police station on June 6. The Rangers’ authorities had handed over Shahzad’s custody to the police as the incident had angered the victim’s relatives and residents who had protested against the alleged high-handedness of the paramilitary force.
The officer had included 17 witnesses, including the complainant and the medico legal officer, in the case.
Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso of ATC-I accepted the charge-sheet against Shahzad after he was produced before the court. The suspect, however, denied the charges and pleaded not guilty.
