Shape up: Meet recovery targets or face disciplinary action, warns TESCO chief
Directs field officers to suspend connections of defaulters, register FIRs.
PESHAWAR:
Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pervez Khankhel Swati on Tuesday asked executive engineers (XENs) operation to meet their targets, warning strict action would otherwise be taken in order to improve the financial position of the company.
At a progress review of the company at Wapda House, Swati also directed field officers to finalise action against illegal and defaulting industrial, commercial, irrigation and government connections.
He asked officers to disconnect all connections of defaulters and lodge FIRs against them under the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) until arrears and monthly bills are recovered. Field officers should work in a manner which improves the public perception of the company, advised the CEO.
He directed XENs (operation) of Hangu, Bannu and Tank Divisions to improve recovery and avoid disciplinary action.
Earlier, XEN Peshawar Engineer Ali Askar gave the CEO an update on his division’s performance. More than 70 connections have been disconnected in Khyber, Mohmand and Bajaur agencies, he said.
As a result of unpaid dues in the millions, the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) disconnection Team of Warsak-1 subdivision suspended the power supply to Mathra, Ghari Mustajab, Sair Sang, and Yari Koroona.
“In these areas Pesco losses are 98% which takes recovery down to less than 2%,” said Pesco spokesperson Shaukat Afzal. Around 1,200 direct hooks exist in these areas, he shared.
After the power supply to these areas was disconnected, locals blocked the road at Pir Bala Chowk in protest.
