Banned militant outfits are planning to target Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders, Express News reported on Monday.

A letter by the Crisis Management Cell of interior ministry to the Sindh government on Monday warned of the threat.

Upon receipt of the information, which names MQM leaders Nabeel Gabol, Farooq Sattar and Faisal Subzawari as likely targets, Sindh government issued directives to provide security to them.

"The Sindh government has issued directives to police officials and concerned authorities to provide security to MQM leaders around their homes and while they are travelling," reported Express News correspondent Shah Waliullah.
