The cameraperson suffered minor injuries on his face and was shifted to the hospital for treatment.
In protest, the media persons boycotted the Punjab Assembly proceedings, demanding that strict action be taken against people responsible.
Witnesses claimed that the attackers were carrying PTI flags and used the sticks to beat up the media persons.
The accused, Mohammad Afzal was handed over to the police for investigation while PTI workers claimed that he had been sent by agencies from the Punjab Government to sabotage the sit-in.
PTI had been protesting against the by-elections that took place on August22, claiming that they were rigged and a re-count was needed in several constituencies.
Following the protest of media persons, PTI Punjab president Ejaz Chaudhry issued an apology, assuring that the incident will be personally investigated by him.
He said that PTI could never misbehave with the media persons.
PTI lawmaker and opposition leader Mehmoodur Rasheed said that he would personally talk to Imran Khan about the incident and later expressed a wish to visit the injured cameraperson in the hospital.
Later, media officials gathered at Faisal Chowk in front of the Punjab Assembly to protest against the behavior of PTI workers. Media coverage of PTI's protest was subsequently stopped.
President Lahore Press Club Arshed Ansari said that the protest would continue till the accused was punished for manhandling the media person.
President Cameramen Association, Butt said that a case should be registered against the responsible PTI workers.
Condemning the incident, Federal Information Minister Pervez Rasheed advised PTI Chairman Imran Khan to keep PTI workers from misbehaving with media persons.
Some of the PTI leaders present at the camp included Shabbir Sial, Umer Zaheer Mir, Rai Azizullah and Asghar Gujjar.
PTI's protest
Addressing protesters, PTI leader Hammad Azhar said that PTI would not be harassed with bullet and batons.
"We were here to protest against rigging during by-elections," said Azhar.
Addressing the workers at the sit-in, Chaudhry said that re-counting should be done without any delay.
He said that the protests from PTI would continue till votes are re-counted.

Newton's Law of Motion works here: The self-destruction of PTI is in full speed. What goes up too suddenly falls with the same speed!!!
you cant blame these pti workers, they are only following in their leaders footsteps .
@Shahid @Adnan Siddiqi:
You guys should write a book on sixth-grader comebacks.
@AD:
There is a phenomenon known as "Life." Please get one!
And what of those beaten up by the media men? Did not see any news on that!
@AD: Keep dreaming little girl. PTI is game over.
A true leader unites his nation and takes them forward. Imran has polarised the nation. He has been fighting agianst mqm , PPP, pml , jui and has taken these fights to unnecessary levels that now people are against each other and not united. He has turned his bparty started in good faith into a fascist party and I there fore feel he is not a leader. All he has done spo far is polarize people and KPK is burning
Its look like dat pti on its end nw.. Opposition role will b played by ppp n next elections will b clean sweapd by ppp
Is this really worthy of main headline for most part of the day on ET? Really. Is this the biggest story of the day? What a shame.
So apparently that stick by any anonymous was Enough for Media to boycott.. & all the clarifications by senior leadership of party didn't mean anything to them! Thumbs up to "Media Gardi" P.S: I hope the comment gets published!
What about FIR lodged against ARY News by Balochistan Government. Why silence on that case?
This party has a ideology i.e dharnas grao jalo. This doesn't bode well with democracy but dictatorship.PTI walas are going well with their plans. Lo and behold.
Right from the begining the PTI's image in this respect has been tarnished and instead of correcting it they remain in denial. they still have not understood that perception is bigger than reality in politics.
Well they saw their death in PTI growing popularity, of course things like these will be faked to damage PTI's repu! People criticizing PTI must pay attention to what other political parties do in Pakistan! shame on
The funny thing is that PTI chairman cannot even defend his home seat and still trying to find faults in everyone else except himself.
PTI elites have a divine right to rule the down trodden masses of Pakistan while constantly insulting them as illiterate and fools. PTI and IK can do no wrong, if you don't believe me ask their supporters.
@Ali: All of the media is under the care of some party- none is independent. Non party polls were a flop and so would an independent media... Grim and bear it
Sad to hear about the incident and glad to see camaraman not seriously injured. I hope culprits will be severely punished by both party and the law. But seeing that ECP ruled today that RO actinh unfairly and has summoned all parties to ECP on 28th August quite frankly the Dharna worked
i think there is a need for some correction "protesting against the local body elections that took place on August22" local body elections or by elections?
PTI is clean-shaved Jamat-i-Islami --- a new front of Jamat to trap the Pakistani young generation.
Pakistani youths made the same mistake as they supported 'Socialist' Bhutto --- the biggest Zamindar (landlord) of Sindh.
It's not local body, it's by elections please.
This is sad. Unfortunately most political party workers are not objective, rational people but usually people with emotional holes and authority issues. PTI is fast turning into an impediment to positive change rather than a catalyst of it. It is fast becoming PPP. A personality cult more than a party. Revolution for the sake of it, and protest for the sake of protest.
PTI had been protesting against the local body elections that took place on August22, claiming that they were rigged and a re-count was needed in several constituencies.
@ET: Local Body??
The express news building gets fired at and could have led to casulties, Pak Media doesn't give a second glance. One camera man gets slightly injured and, "media persons boycotted the Punjab Assembly proceedings" Interesting priority the media has.
Imran needs to calm down himself first before bringing discipline into his party workers. Agreed that NS is an incapable PM, IK and PTI also proved equally incapable post general elections. The continuation of such protests has de-tracked PTI and IK from the party goal of establishing a model government in KPK. Similarly we have yet to see any meaningful opposition role from PTI in National Assembly. PTI needs to re-allign its priorities and start focusing on core issues. The verbal fights with characters like Fazlurrehman actually brought down IK to a traditional Pakistani politician like Sheikh Rasheed!
Nothing but to give bad name to PTI. For sure work of PML-N Chamcha.Pti has nothing against Media
again..cry me a river..they are turning out to be colic child.
Naya Pakistan. LMAO
well done PTI maintaining status quo...this the meaning of Naya pakistan
I am sure this is not done by party workers as this is not our party policy but I suspect that just to defame our party a hidden hand has played the role.
Shameful act and such acts are becoming big reasons for Pti's loosing people's trust
This is for all practical purposes the reincarnation of the Nazi Party, in the new age. Like the Nazi Party, PTI is resorting to terror and intimidation against anyone which does not to subscribe to its fascist ideology and intolerance or questions the politics and motives of Imran Hitler Khan Niazi.
Was newsman working for any political party?
The news story and the attached video do not match :(
All the more reasons to believe that what happened with PTI cadre on Saturday was justified to the hilt. Instead of apologizing, they blame the incident on "Foreign Elements." How corny!
They are going mad. Yar please try to accept the consequences of impolite, rude and unsocial attitude of your leader.
Wasting time again and again ... do something for people of Pakistan and their problems.. we certainly do not care about rigging.
PTI in denial, they need shrinks to help them shake it off
Now thats really a good news.. Make it headline.. First good move from PTI side :P
Internet Trolls of PTI now trolling on streets, Verbal violence now turns into Physical violence
